Федеральная Миграционная Служба России, являясь органом ис­полнительной власти, ответственным за разработку государственной политики в области миграции, ее реализацию и координацию, видит в организации информационного обеспечения миграционного про­цесса одну из своих задач. От того, как освещается миграционная ситуация в стране, во многом зависит и стабильность в обществе.

Особенности развития миграционной ситуации в Российской Фе­дерации обусловлены, в первую очередь, распадом СССР, резкими политическими и социально-экономическими переменами на постсо­ветском пространстве. Значительное влияние также имеют изменив­шаяся геополитическая ситуация в мировом сообществе и принци­пиально иное, чем прежде, место в нем России и новых суверенных государств.
